Well the wait is almost over, welcome to the next generation in motorcycle technology, The Hyanide!
Take on the toughest terrain from dirt, sand, snow and mud in the go anywhere Hyanide. A cross between a dirt bike, snowmobile, 4-wheeler and Tank! This “bike” is in a class of its own.
The Hyanide is a wild concept vehicle that was created by German designers Oliver Keller and Tillman Schlootz for the Michelin Challenge Design 2006.
Where did the name Hyanide come from? The Hyanide is so named because it is supposed to resemble a crouching hyena! The Hyanide is designed to run on a flexible rubber tread that spans the machine’s entire underbelly. This bendable rubber track guarantees maximum traction as well as freely changeable directions, in addition this makes the handling more comfortable and interesting as the vehicle is steered not only by your hands but also your feet! The bike bends into turns, which makes turning sharp corners or climbing vertical terrain easy. Your feet snaps onto the pedals preventing slips and also giving you more control when steering the bike.
The bendable rubber track consists of 77 identical segments, each segment is made from hard plastic covered with tire rubber and finally held together by Kevlar rope. Each segment flexes independently, which makes the tread significantly more limber than if its components were rigid. Because of its design this innovative hybrid motorbike can move through deep mud, sand, and snow terrains, with fantastic control and corner like no other vehicle.
The display models, which are one-fifth scale prototypes, use mass-produced 500 cc ATV motors.

Hyanide is designed as a serious off road bike that is perfect for desert areas, snowy regions, rocky terrain and mountain regions like the Himalayas. The Hyanide provides much space to transport any kind of small to medium sized items.
At this stage the Hyanide is a concept vehicle and only a prototype currently exists as a one-fifth scale model. There are not yet any immediate plans to convert the Hyanide prototype into a full production model, However the designers have thought ahead for possible future design specifications. Their initial plans leave a good amount of space for various motor sizes, and the frame construction will allow the use of numerous engine sizes and designs, from conventional fossil fuel engines to newer fuel cell systems. Only time will tell us when the Hyanide will make it to the production lines, many like myself are waiting eagerly for this ultimate off road experience and can only hope it will be available soon.

Unlike today's motorbikes this motorcycle is truly futuristic in appearance, the picture above depicts the motorcycle in the snow. Snowy conditions would be no problem for the Hyanide, with this motorcycle any part of the underbelly that touches the ground will move the vehicle, other motorcycles just don't come close.
It has been said that the Hyanide Motorcycle would be the ultimate contender in the Dakar Rally which is considered the worlds toughest bike rally.
It will be interesting to see just how much they charge for this beast of a motorbike, time will tell and I don't think price will be much of an issue for most if she performs as well as is expected.
